Health Council of Northwest Ohio Launches New Era of Community Impact as Part of Mission 3:10

ree

The Health Council of Northwest Ohio (HCNO), formerly known as the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio, is proud to announce a new chapter in its history of serving communities across an 18-county region. Incorporated in 1972, HCNO has long been recognized for uniting hospitals, organizations, and communities to address health needs and improve outcomes. Today, HCNO continues that legacy as part of Mission 3:10, a new nonprofit dedicated to creating pathways that bridge the gap between need and opportunity.

While HCNO’s organizational structure has evolved over the years—from its origins as a membership-based hospital council to its current collaborative model—the heart of its work remains the same: strengthening communities, addressing health disparities, and connecting residents with the resources and care they need to thrive. HCNO continues to work closely with hospitals as essential partners in this mission, while expanding its collaborative reach through Mission 3:10.

A Legacy of Service, a Future of Collaboration

HCNO’s commitment to improving population health has remained constant for more than 50 years. Its key programs include:

  • The Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB, which coordinates medical and social care for families across the region.

  • The Northwest Ohio Disaster Preparedness network, ensuring readiness and response in times of crisis.

  • The Northwest Ohio Regional Trauma Registry, advancing regional trauma data and system improvement.

  • Community health planning and evaluation services, helping organizations identify needs and deliver effective solutions.

“These programs are vital resources to our region, and they remain at the heart of HCNO’s mission,” said Hayley Studer, President, HCNO. “By joining Mission 3:10, we are ensuring their sustainability and impact for decades to come, while creating new opportunities to expand our reach and serve more individuals and families.”

Expanding Governance for Broader Impact

As part of this transition, HCNO’s governance structure has also evolved to better reflect the diverse needs of the communities it serves. Historically guided by a board composed of hospital presidents, HCNO’s Board of Directors now includes leaders from a broader range of sectors, including community health, healthcare delivery, education, senior care, regional development, and workforce and economic growth.

This expanded governance model ensures that HCNO benefits from a wide spectrum of perspectives, expertise, and community voices. By engaging leaders across multiple sectors, HCNO is strengthening its ability to address the interconnected drivers of health and well-being in Northwest Ohio.
