Northwest Ohio Healthcare Emergency Management Coalition
December 2012 and January 2013 Communication Drills with NW Ohio Physicians and Physician Offices
The Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio (HCNO) will be conducting a series of communications drills the last week of December 2012 and each week in January 2013. The purpose of these drills is to test our batch faxing capabilities and to update our database of northwest Ohio physician and physician office contact information. HCNO maintains this database for use during regional disaster incidents. During an incident, this faxing system would be used to communicate important response and recovery information to physicians.
During the drills, a group of NW Ohio physicians/offices may receive a fax from HCNO marked "Urgent facsimile." It explains that this fax is part of the communications drill being conducted by HCNO. The physician and/or office is encouraged to respond to HCNO that the fax was received using a special gmail account HCNO has established for use during disasters. This gmail account allows HCNO staff to access this email address from any location as long as the Internet is available.
The Hospital Council of Northwest collaborates to strengthen NW Ohio healthcare disaster response capabilities with thirty-two hospitals, specialty healthcare facitilities, other providers, first responders, and support agencies. The results of these drills will help us better prepare to collaborate with the physicians in NW Ohio. If you have any questions, please call 419-842-0800 and ask for Kathy Silvestri, Patrick Trejchel, or Susan Murphy.
